A few years ago, when I learned about Masterpiece Theatre’s program “All Creatures Great and Small” – based on the trilogy written by James Herriot back in the 1970s, I quickly signed up for a monthly subscription to PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) … through my local public television station (KVIE).
(I’d read the first book in the trilogy, All Creatures Great and Small, in 1978, soon after the third book in the series had been released.
In my new position as a reporter for two weekly newspapers, I was so busy that I really didn’t have time to read very often. So I appreciated the fact that I could read one chapter at a time — with several weeks in between, if necessary— since each chapter was basically a short story, complete within itself.)
Unfortunately, after subscribing to the PBS station, I discovered I wouldn’t be ABLE to watch the show on our Samsung TV.
Although it WAS a Smart TV, it was two years older than what was required for accessing the Masterpiece shows.
Thankfully, my Samsung Galaxy Tab A with S Pen DOES allow access to Masterpiece programs. The 11-inch screen is large enough for easy viewing, and I like the fact that I can watch the show from any room of the house!
The tablet has come in handy in other ways, too … especially when I want to read an eBook on Kindle. So much easier to do with a screen that’s several inches larger than my phone!
