The subtitle of this book — ‘Tiny Changes, Remarkable Results’ — says it all.
I had heard good things about this book long before I had a chance to read it. But to be honest, I wasn’t expecting it to be much better than any other self-help book I’d read.
But because every chapter in Atomic Habits starts with a story, it didn’t take me long to realize that every time I started a new chapter, it was hard to put the book down until I’d finished the chapter!
Even the Introduction in the front of the book starts with a story, with James Clear explaining how a near-death experience while playing baseball as a high school sophomore led him to discover the power that comes from learning how to build good habits.
After explaining “why tiny changes make a big difference” in the first three chapters, James Clear explains the 4 Laws behind this concept: Make It Obvious, Make It Attractive, Make It Easy, and Make It Satisfying. The “Advanced Tactics” section at the end – and the Appendix – help drive home the lessons even more.
Published as a hardback in 2018, the book is now available in paperback and in both eBook and audiobook formats. Amazon gives it a “4.8 out of 5” ranking … based on over 147,000 reviews!
